One of the best ways of keeping up with the latest thinking in psychology as it relates to management and business is by listening to podcasts. If you’ve got a period in your day when you’ve got time to listen – like commuting to work, or in my case walking the dog, podcasts are an ideal way to absorb information and spark off ideas.
Here’s a selection of my favourite podcasts around psychology, management and leadership:
- My new absolute favourite: Daniel Pink’s monthly ‘Office Hours’ podcast – the authore of the brilliant Drive: The Surprising Truth About What Motivates Us gets a proper big-name thought-leader guest and hosts a phone-in for an hour. Guests include Seth Godin, Gary Hamel, Bob Sutton, David Allen, Marcus Buckingham. Relaxed, joky, creative – podcasting at its best.

- The Psych Files – Psychology in Everyday Life. As the title suggests, this is a slightly geekier and more academic (though still accessible) podcast aimed at ‘anyone curious about human behavior, though students taking a course in psychology, those majoring in psychology, and instructors of psychology will find the podcast particularly of interest.’Michael Britt hosts 2-3 episodes a month, each about 20-30 minutes long. The episode web pages list resources for further study, which is a nice touch.
- Leadership Development News with leadership coaches Dr Cathy Greenberg and Dr Relly Nadler on the Voice America Business Channel. ‘Provides listeners with practical, actionable insights on how to be and how to develop dynamic, effective leaders’ with an emphasis on emotional intelligence and positive psychology. Most episodes have a star guest, usually a leading researcher or author. You may find the trailers for other Voice America Business shows a bit intrusive, but there is always good content in the show itself.

Actually this is the first time am reading about podcasts. But i must say that am really impressed by the four highlighted podcasts, i would recommended them to people who love reading podcasts and the people who like listening more rather than speaking.
